Background

Anthony was a survivor in the post-outbreak United States. He lived in the Kansas City quarantine zone, where he lived under FEDRA and the military's rule to avoid contracting the Cordyceps brain infection. He disliked FEDRA's totalitarian rule and joined Kathleen Coghlan's resistance group, helping to overthrow FEDRA in 2023.

To support the group, he monitored the suburban area to prevent people from sneaking into or out of the city from that area. He notably kept an eye out for Henry Burrell. He took up a sniping position on the top floor of a house, using a scoped hunting rifle, and kept a radio in the room to keep Kathleen informed of incidents that occurred in the area.

Events of HBO's The Last of Us

Eleven days after the successful overthrow of FEDRA, Anthony was monitoring the street at night when he spotted Henry, his brother Sam and trespassers Joel and Ellie in the distance. He picked up his rifle and started shooting at them. Failing to hit them, he radioed Kathleen their position and continued firing on them.

However, Joel snuck out from behind cover and pushed his way up the street, eventually reaching and cornering Anthony in the house. Anthony looked at Joel, who had his revolver aimed at him, listening as the man asked him to put down his rifle and let the others advance up the street. Despite Joel's pleas, Anthony moved to shoot him, leading Joel to shoot him in the head, killing him.
