The following is the full transcript of "Back in a Flash", the first chapter of The Last of Us: Left Behind.

Transcript[]

Back in a Flash[]

[Sony Computer Entertainment presents slide is seen before the cut-scene starts.]

[The scene begins with a series of brief recaps from Joel and Ellie's experience at the University of Eastern Colorado and their escape from the cannibals. It cuts to black at the moment Joel falls from Callus. The Naughty Dog logo appears on scene.]

[The scene reopens to Ellie lying asleep on her bunk bed in her room at the military Preparatory School in Boston, a few weeks before meeting Joel. A door opens and in walks Riley Abel, who climbs on top of Ellie.]

Riley: [Imitating Clicker.] Raaa!

[Ellie awakens.]

Ellie: Ah!

[Ellie throws Riley off of her onto the floor, taking her switchblade from underneath her pillow. She prepares to stab Riley only to recognize her.]

Ellie: Riley?

Riley: [Laughing.] Ow! [Stands.] I landed on my hip.

Ellie: What the hell? I thought I was bitten.

Riley: I know. [Smiling.] It was kind of awesome. [Pause. Ellie keeps her blade trained on Riley.] Well, you're not gonna kill me are you?

Ellie: [Putting the blade back under her pillow.] I haven’t seen you in I don’t even know how long.

Riley: Forty-five days. Well, forty-six... technically. Wanna know what I've been up to?

Ellie: All this time... I thought you were dead.

Riley: Yeah. Here, [Removes her pendant from her neck. Passing it to Ellie.] Look.

Ellie: [Of the pendant.] No way.

Riley: [Looks at Ellie's bunk bed.] Still no roommate? I had to sleep under Liz for three years and you know how much that girl smells.

Ellie: [Turns over the pendant, revealing the Firefly insignia.] You're a Firefly.

Riley: [Pulls a picture of her and Ellie from the wall.] You still have it up.

[Ellie rushes past her, opening the door, checking the hallway.]

Riley: Wha- What are you doing?

Ellie: [Closing the door.] I'm making sure I don’t get caught with a Firefly in my room.

Riley: Relax. There are no soldiers on the entire floor.

Ellie: [Passing the pendant back.] Here. Congrats.

Riley: Hey! [Grabs Ellie's arm.] Are we cool?

Ellie: [Snatches her arm free.] ‘Are we cool?’

Riley: I disappeared and your mad. [Ellie scoffs.] And... I owe you an explanation. Lets get out of here and I'll tell you all about it.

Ellie: It's almost morning. And I have military drills. You know, where we learn how to kill Fireflies.

Riley: [Tossing Ellie a pair of pants.] Puts some pants on and lets go.

Ellie: [Getting dressed.] This is so dumb.

Riley: [Leaving the room.] Come on. When have we ever gotten into trouble?

[The screen cuts to black. It then reopens to Ellie in a rundown ice cream parlor in the Colorado Mountain Plaza, months later, frantically searching through several draws. Joel lies unconscious on the ground, still bleeding out from his stomach wound sustained at the University. Callus is by the ice cream stand.]

Ellie: Shit! [Slams drawer shut. Searches another.] Come on, gimme something. [She searches another. Empty too.] Fuck! [She searches one more. Inside is duct tape.] Oh here we go.

[Ellie takes the tape and runs to Joel.]

Ellie: Okay, I'm going to put you on your side. [She rolls Joel over, who grunts with the pain. She sees his wound.] Oh Jesus. [She takes out her summer shirt and tapes it over the wound. She rolls Joel back on to his back.] That should buy us sometime. I’ll find something to stitch you up. Okay? Callus, you keep an eye on him.

[Ellie runs towards a set of shutters, pulling them up. She turns back to Joel.]

Ellie: I'll be back in a flash. Promise.

[Ellie gently pulls the shutters closed. The screen cuts to the title card: The Last of Us: Left Behind. The cinematic ends and the player takes control of Ellie.]
