The Baldwin mansion is a minor location in The Last of Us Part II. Abby Anderson and her crew stayed there during their time in Jackson County.[1][2]

Background[]
The "Baldwin place" is a hunting/ski lodge located "a few hours [up] the hill" from the town of Jackson, Wyoming. At some point after the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak, the lodge sat abandoned up until early 2038 when a close-knit group of friends from the Washington Liberation Front—known as the "Salt Lake crew"—set up a hidden base camp there during their search for Joel Miller, who lived in the community.[1]
Events of The Last of Us Part II[]
When the group returns to the cabin with Joel and his brother, Tommy, the brothers introduce themselves, but as Joel gives his name the group suddenly goes silent. The two become suspicious and think that the strangers have heard of them, which is confirmed when one of them, Abby Anderson, shoots Joel in the right knee with a shotgun. Two others, Nick and Jordan, grab Tommy from behind, allowing Nora Harris to knock him out.
Nick and Manny Alvarez then drag Joel up against a wall and pin him there. He asks Abby who she is, and she challenges him to guess. Defiantly, he growls for her to give her speech and finish him off. Instead of doing so, however, Abby tells her group to wrap his leg with a makeshift tourniquet to ensure that he does not die from blood loss. She takes a golf club from a bag in the corner of the room and approaches him. She calls him a "stupid old man" and tells him that he does not get to rush this, proceeding to strike him in the side of the head with the club, and then continuing to beat him.[1]
Elsewhere, Ellie and Dina have learned from Jesse that Joel and Tommy haven't yet returned to Jackson as scheduled, and the three friends set out to find them. Ellie rides through the surrounding woods, calling Joel's and Tommy's names, and eventually arrives at the cabin and begins to search the house. After hearing screams of pain, she sneaks down to the basement, where she opens the door to find Abby beating Joel’s motionless body with the bloody club. Ellie rushes in and attempts to stop her, but is subdued by other members of Abby's group. Ellie alternately threatens them, and pleads with them to stop, as they panic over the possibility of a search party from town discovering them. Owen Moore demands that Abby kill Joel now, quickly. Ellie begs Joel to get up as he weakly opens his eyes to look at her one last time, but he cannot move. Abby then bashes Joel’s skull in with her club, killing him. The group briefly argues over whether or not to kill Ellie and Tommy, as well, but Owen and Abby decide to spare them; Jordan then knocks Ellie unconscious.[2]
Dina later finds Ellie and an unconscious Tommy, and calls out to Jesse for help. Ellie looks at Joel's corpse as she sobs. The group finally heads back to town, bringing Joel's body with them.[1]
