Benjamin "Benji" Miller is a supporting character in the second season of HBO's The Last of Us. He is the son of Tommy and Maria Miller, living with the community in Jackson, Wyoming.

Biography

Background

Maria Miller fell pregnant with Benji sometime before Christmas in 2023 while a council member in Jackson, Wyoming. The pregnancy caused her husband and Benji's father Tommy Miller to reduce his frequency on patrols for the community.

Events of HBO's The Last of Us

Season 2

By December 2028, Benji was a child in the town still under Maria and Tommy's care. Maria brought him with her to visit Joel, his uncle, the foreman for the community. There, Joel showed him their patrol map and explained how they had to stay safe from the monsters that were infected outside the walls. When Tommy arrived, Maria picked Benji up and held him as Joel left.

Personality

Being so young, Benji had a playful spirit. He would play make believe with toy trucks and aeroplanes and also pretend to shoot Joel dead. He had a simplistic understanding of the world, believing everything within the walls of Jackson was good while everything outside of it was dangerous and full of monsters that had to be shot.

Tommy Miller

Tommy is Benji's father. Benji loved Tommy, eager to race towards and hug him upon seeing him enter the room.

Maria Miller

Maria is Benji's mother. Benji loved and respected Maria, listening to her orders and letting her pick him up and hold him when she asked for his attention.

Joel Miller

Joel is Benji's paternal uncle. Benji liked Joel, seeing him as someone comfortable to ask questions with. He was also playful within him, joking about killing monsters and pretending to shoot him as he left the room, simulating how he would defend against infected.
