Danny Adler is a supporting character in the first season of HBO's The Last of Us. He was the neighbor of Joel and Sarah Miller in Austin before the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak.[1]

Danny lived in Austin with his wife, Connie, elderly mother, Nana, and dog, Mercy. He lived next door to Joel and Sarah Miller. He enjoyed the film Curtis and Viper 2, which he owned a copy of.
Events of HBO's The Last of Us[]
On the morning of September 26th, 2003, he sat on his front lawn with Nana, feeding her biscuits Connie made. Upon noticing the Millers preparing to leave their home for the day, he called out to greet them, mentioning to Sarah that Connie had been asking about her, to which Sarah replied by offering to visit after school. Danny additionally offered the Millers the biscuits, which Sarah claimed Joel was fond of, only for the latter to avoid further conversation by claiming to be in a hurry and switching the subject back to Sarah.
Later that day, when Sarah visited the Adler residence that afternoon after school, she borrowed Danny's copy of Curtis and Viper 2 for her and Joel to watch together for Joel's birthday.
Over the course of the day, Nana succumbed to symptoms of the Cordyceps brain infection and eventually attacked and infected both Danny and Connie in their kitchen with a bite to the neck. Danny lay slumped against the back door, helplessly watching Nana feeding on Connie until, in the early hours of September 27th, Sarah entered the house, having noticed the front door wide open. She found Danny in a trail of blood, wounded, in the kitchen from the bite. He begged a horrified Sarah for help, only for Nana to chase Sarah outside the house.
Soon after, when Joel and his brother Tommy arrived to kill Nana and rescue Sarah, the now-infected Danny and Connie emerged from the Adler household and onto the street as runners. They charged at Tommy's truck, forcing the man to run Connie over and sideswipe Danny before driving out of the area. Danny then attacked another neighbor, Denise, who had witnessed the incident unfolding and attempted to assist Connie, unaware that the Adlers were no longer human.[1]

Danny was an older man with shoulder length white hair and a thick white beard. He wore glasses and wore a blue Hawaiian shirt and denim shorts with gray socks and brown sandals.[1]
Personality[]
Danny was a cheerful man, acting friendly towards his neighbors and offering them biscuits. He and his wife trusted the Millers enough to allow Sarah to visit the house on multiple occasions. He was also empathetic, caring for Nana in her elderly age. He also exhibited fear when Sarah found him turning in his house.[1]
