Denver was a quarantine zone mentioned in the Left Behind DLC and The Last of Us Part II.

The Federal Disaster Response Agency and the 4th Infantry Division were stationed there to maintain order.

History[]

Similar to Boston, Hartford, and Atlanta, the Denver QZ managed to remain operational relatively late into the outbreak.[1]

While members of the Fireflies, Tommy Miller, and Eugene Linden bombed checkpoints in the city and tortured a FEDRA general. One bombing killed three soldiers and two civilians. Eugene later recalled the incident to Dina, who eventually told it to Ellie.[2]

At some point, Captain Regan Francis and her crew left the zone on a rescue mission. Their helicopter crashed into the Colorado Mountain Plaza when an infected patient began attacking the pilots. Warrant Officer Sean Brendon was bitten and subsequently killed from the impact of the crash, while Chief Warrant Officer Larry Caulfield survived, but had also been bitten. Francis executed him, despite his pleas. She later amputated the arm of Private Eugene Ellis, the only other survivor of the crash, in an attempt to prevent him from turning. However, Ellis grew paranoid, believing that Francis still thought he was infected, and was planning to kill him. While the two were together, Francis went for her pistol upon spotting several infected, but Ellis shot and killed his superior out of paranoia, thinking she was drawing on him. Francis was dead, and Ellis later bled to death in an air duct after his stitches ripped while fleeing from the infected. With only one arm, he was unable to sew his wound shut again.[3]
