Fire Extinguishers are an item that can be found in The Last of Us.
Gameplay
Fire extinguishers will explode when shot with a firearm. The explosion creates a cloud of chemical powder that can be used as a smoke screen. The effect is similar to the smoke from a Smoke Bomb.
A fire extinguisher will also explode if a smoke bomb detonates near it.

Fire extinguishers can be found in St. Mary's Hospital.
