The Last of Us Firefly Pendant Contests were three contests held in the United States from April 15 to April 24, 2013, prior to the release of The Last of Us. The contests were the Fan Art Contest, the Cosplay Contest, and the Video Contest. The eight winners of each contest were rewarded with their names becoming part of the game by appearing on Firefly Pendants.[1]

Fan Art Contest[]
The Fan Art Contest was held in the comment section of the contest announcement page on the Naughty Dog website. Participants had to comment with a link to their work to enter.[1] Participants were allowed to use any artistic medium they deemed fit but had to submit their entry as either a JPEG or PNG image. Naughty Dog staff selected the winners and judged the entries based on their creativity, accounting for 60% of the mark, and character authenticity, accounting for 40% of the mark,.[2] The eight winners of the Fan Art Contest were David Michael Vigil, Ben Glueck, Philip Liu, Joseph Lenz, Michael Kiper, Melinda Davidson, Shiyao Jiang, and Hui Wang.[3]
Cosplay Contest[]
IGN hosted the Cosplay Contest and Ashley Johnson chose the winners.[1] Participants had to dress as characters in The Last of Us, choosing their own outfits and makeup to do so. They had to take photos of themselves in their outfits and submit the photos to IGN.[4] Entries were judged 60% on creativity and 40% on character authenticity."[5] The eight winners of the Cosplay Contest were Travis Kristof, Sadie Pearle Hickman, Erik Griggs, Eddie Fuentes, Alex Rohner, Brent Pino, Hope Pino, and Ryan Oliverio.[6]
Video Contest[]
The Video Contest was hosted on the PlayStation Forums.[1] Participants were instructed to create videos that were one to two minutes long which featured The Last of Us brand in a positive way. The videos could use publicly available footage of The Last of Us alongside footage created by the participant. Videos were submitted by being embed in comments on the forum in a thread related to the contest. Naughty Staff selected the winners under the same criteria as during the Fan Art Contest.[7] The eight winners of the Video Contest were Alex Raymond Vincent, Peter Mrozik, Kazden Risk, Joe Warren, Colby Reed, Robert Righetti, Lucas Rios, and Josh Scheffler.[3]
