Hannah is a minor character in the first season of HBO's The Last of Us. She was a member of a group of cannibalistic survivors led by David.[1]
Biography[]
Background[]
Hannah was born several years after the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak to Alec and Joyce. Like her parents, she became a religious Christian and eventually joined David's group of fellow Christian survivors sometime between 2017 and 2023. By 2023, after encountering raiders, the group settled in Silver Lake, Colorado.[1]
Events of HBO's The Last of Us[]
During the winter of 2023, David sent Alec and three other members of their group to search the University of Eastern Colorado for supplies. While at the former Fireflies' base, Alec was killed by Joel.[2] Alec's friends returned his body, where Joyce and Hannah mourned their loss during a funeral led by David. While he read from the Book of Revelations, Hannah wept and held Joyce's hand as she expressed her desire to bury Alec's body. When David remarked they had to wait until spring, Hannah accepted his words.
That night, Hannah sat with her mother in the diner awaiting David and James to return from hunting to eat their food. During this time, word spread through the group that James and David had located Joel and his traveling partner, Ellie.
When David returned and remarked on his plans to take a hunting party out the following morning, Hannah interrupted, insisting he kill Joel and Ellie to avenge her father. David went silent and approached Hannah, then struck her to the ground with a strike to the face. No one in the group spoke out against David's action. David then offered her his hand, the girl taking it and sitting on her chair. David then told her to forget about Alec, stating she always had a "father" in him as their preacher and that she must never interrupt him. David then sat with Joyce and Hannah, the three eating the food together that night.[1]
