The following is the full transcript of "Infected", the second episode of the first season of HBO's The Last of Us.

Transcript

Jakarta

[Ratna is sitting in a lounge. Agus arrives with a cup of tea in his hand and offers it to her.]

Ratna: Terima kasih, bapak.

Agus: Silahkan.

[Agus sits down.]

Ratna: Jadi, kapan ini terjadinya, pak?

Agus: Kurang lebih 30 jam yang lalu, bu.

Ratna: Di mana?

Agus: Di pabrik tepung dan gabah di barat kota.

Ratna: Lahan yang sempurna untuk itu. Lalu?

Agus: Seorang perempuan yang tiba-tiba melakukan kekerasan. Menyerang empat orang rekan kerja dan menggigit tiga orang di antaranya. Mereka kemudian mengunci perempuan itu di kamar mandi sampai kemudian polisi datang. Perempuan itu mencoba menyerang dan terpaksa harus ditembak.

Ratna: Lalu, bagaimana dengan orang yang digigitnya?

Agus: Dibawa untuk diobservasi. Sayangnya beberapa jam kemudian, telah menjadi keharusan sesuai dengan prosedur... mereka harus tetap dieksekusi.

Ratna: Siapa yang menggigit perempuan itu, pak?

Agus: Kami tidak tahu, ibu.

Ratna: Jadi artinya mereka masih berkeliaran di luar sana. Lalu, pekerja yang lain bagaimana?

Agus: Empat belas orang hilang.

[Ratna is visibly distressed. She shakily places her teacup and saucer on the table and breathes heavily.]

Agus: Ibu Ratna, kami membawa Ibu Ratna kemari untuk membantu kami untuk mencegah penyebaran. Kami butuh vaksin, butuh obat.

Ratna: Bapak, saya telah menghabiskan waktu hidup saya untuk mempelajari hal ini. Jadi tolong dengarkan saya baik-baik. Tidak ada obat. Dan tidak ada vaksin.

Agus: Jadi apa yang harus kami lakukan, bu?

[Ratna pauses and takes a deep breath.]

Ratna: Bom. Mulailah pengeboman. Bom seluruh kota, dan seluruh orang yang ada di dalamnya.

[Agus is left shocked after Ratna's grim summation. Ratna herself is moved nearly to tears.]

Ratna: Maaf, pak, apa ada yang bisa antar saya pulang? Saya hanya ingin bersama dengan keluarga, bahkan suami dan anak-anak saya.

Joel: Nice knife.

[Ellie spares him a look and continues flipping it.]

Joel: Where'd you learn to do that?

Ellie: The circus.

[Joel rolls his eyes and looks away, sighing. Ellie flips up the blade and looks at Joel a moment.]

Ellie: Where are you from?

Joel: Texas.

Ellie: What about Tess?

Joel: Detroit. It's in Michigan.

Ellie: I go to school; I know where Detroit is. [She pauses.] So are you two like, uh...

Joel: Pass.

Ellie: How'd you end up in Boston?

Joel: Pass. No more questions about me.

Ellie: ...how long do infected live?

Joel: Oh, I thought you went to school.

Ellie: It's a really shitty one.

Joel: Well, some last about a month or two. But there's others, been walking around 'bout twenty years.

Ellie: You ever kill one?

Joel: Yeah, I killed lots of 'em.

Ellie: Was it hard? Like, knowing they were people once?

[A long beat.]

Joel: Sometimes.

Ellie: What about that guy last night?
