J. Pantella is a supporting character in the second season of HBO's The Last of Us.

Biography

Background and early life

Little is known about Pantella except that he was a survivor of the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak. He lived in the Seattle quarantine zone by 2018 under FEDRA's control. However, he hated their oppressive rule and joined the WLF resistance to overthrow them. The group succeeded and Pantella became a member of a WLF squad stationed near the TV station in the city.

Events of HBO's The Last of Us

Season 2

In April 2029, Pantella was informed by a WLF squad sent to assist a platoon under an attack from Seraphites that two suspected Scars (Ellie and Dina) had fled into the transit tunnels of an abandoned subway. J Pantella and his squad entered through the south entrance. He and his squad wrongly believed the tunnel was empty of Cordyceps so decided to toss red flares around the tunnels to improve their visibility in the darkness. However, this accidentally triggered Cordyceps tendrils growing in the area, which alerted a horde of infected to charge on their position. The horde arrived and, despite Pantella's efforts to shoot them with his assault rifle, several runners overpowered and killed him.
