Jeanine is a character mentioned in the second season of HBO's The Last of Us. She is a guard for the community of survivors living in Jackson, Wyoming.

Biography

Background

Not much is known about Jeanine's background, except that she is a survivor of the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak who eventually settled with the community of survivors in Jackson, Wyoming. At some point, she took on the role of a guard for the town, often assigned to shifts at the Jackson stables.

Events of HBO's The Last of Us

Season 2

Following the infected attack on Jackson and the death of Joel Miller at the hands of Abby Anderson and other members of the Washington Liberation Front, Jeanine believed the community should seek justice for Joel's death by sending a party to Seattle to avenge him.

In April 2029, on the night Ellie Williams' proposal to the Jackson council—to dispatch a party to Seattle—was rejected, Jeanine was assigned to the night shift guarding the Jackson stables. After Ellie and Dina decided to leave Jackson and go to Seattle on their own, Jeanine covertly arranged a plan with Seth, who was also sympathetic to their cause, allowing him and Dina to sneak Shimmer out of the stables.

Later that night, when Seth and Dina met up with Ellie at the old east gate, she asked how they had managed to get Shimmer out. Seth explained that Jeanine, who had been on night watch at the stables, had helped them and assured her that Jeanine supported their cause.
