Kat is a supporting character in the second season of HBO's The Last of Us. She is a resident of the community living in Jackson, Wyoming, and is Ellie Williams' ex-girlfriend.

Biography

Events of HBO's The Last of Us

Season 2

After Ellie joined the Jackson community, she and Kat dated for a time starting during Ellie's seventeenth birthday. The pair met up in Ellie's room where they kissed, smoked weed and Kat even started a tattoo over Ellie's arm. Joel, upon finding out, was furious with the pair and ordered Kat out of the house. Ellie kept seeing her for a time though, with Kat eventually finishing the tattoo on Ellie's arm. They eventually broke up before 2029.

By December 2028, Kat was a patrolman in Jackson. She was a patrol leader and Jesse assigned her as the leader of a patrol which Ellie and Dina were part of. Despite her being the leader, Dina and Ellie kept dismissing her orders to stay back and was unable to stop the pair going into the Greenplace Market to confront infected that had killed a bear outside. One of the patrolmen questioned her, Kat responding she would give them five minutes. After the pair encountered and killed infected inside, Kat had them be sent to the Jackson council. Maria ordered the pair apologise to Kat for disobeying her instructions.

Personality

Kat had a reserved personality but struggled to assert authority on patrols. For instance, despite being patrol captain, she was easily overuled by Dina and Ellie, with Kat unable to stop the pair from approaching infected on their own. This also drew concern from other patrolmen, who wondered why she let the pair get away with breaking protocol.

Relationships

Ellie Williams

Kat is Ellie Williams' former girlfriend. The pair were initially close, with Kat gifting Ellie a tattoo on her arm. The pair dated long enough that Kat was able to finish the tattoo despite Joel's disapproval of it.

However, by December 2028 Kat and Ellie were no longer close. She remained at a distance from her where possible, notably on patrol. Ellie didn't respect her authority much, partnering with Dina to disobey her orders to ignore signs of infected in a nearby market.
