Events of HBO's The Last of Us[]
By 2023, the Fireflies occupied the area, intent on holding their position there until their leader, Marlene returned to them with Ellie, a girl immune to Cordyceps brain infection. The Fireflies were stocked with repurposed FEDRA supplies they had gathered, mainly guns, grenades, fuel, radios and a truck. However, by either August or September that year, the group became contaminated with Cordyceps, gradually all becoming infected. The majority went into hibernation. When Ellie, Tess and Joel arrived, the group awoke and tried to attack them. While Ellie and Joel escaped, Tess used the fuel and grenades to create an explosion, killing the horde of infected and destroying the building.[1]
