Mercy is a minor character in the first season of HBO's The Last of Us. He was the family dog of the Adlers in Austin before the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak.[1]

Mercy was the family dog of the Adler family living in Austin, Texas in the United States. He spent his days living in the house under Connie Adler's care and also paid Sarah Miller attention whenever she came around to complete her school work.
Events of HBO's The Last of Us[]
When the outbreak occurred, Mercy could sense that Nana was infected with the Cordyceps brain infection even though humans could not. That night, when Nana attacked Connie and Danny, Mercy fled to the Miller residence and scratched on the door, getting Sarah's attention. Sarah thought he had escaped and tried to take him back, but Mercy resisted, eventually wrestling free of his collar and fleeing the neighborhood.[1]
