Murray[1] is a supporting character in the first season of HBO's The Last of Us. He was a television host of a talk show on ABC during 1968, where he hosted a segment featuring Dr. Neuman and Dr. Schoenheiss.[2]

At some point before 1968, Murray become a television host for a talk show that was being broadcasted by the American Broadcasting Company. By 1968, Murray had booked two esteemed epidemiologists, Neuman and Schoenheiss, on his show to discuss what they considered to be mankind's biggest threat for the next generation.[2]

Events of HBO's The Last of Us[]

While on the show, Murray allowed Schoenheiss to give his argument first, the man stating he believed influenza was mankind's biggest threat because it could now easily spread thanks to cross-Atlantic travel through airplanes and could kill millions if another big outbreak occurred.

Murray then moved to let Neuman speak, who offered instead the idea that fungus could threaten mankind. Murray tried to joke about Neuman's claims, but the man clarified he believed mankind should not fear death, but the loss of control. Murray grew solemn, listening as Neuman mapped out his prophecy for what a fungus—like Cordyceps—could do if it evolved to infect humans. When Neuman finished, Murray declared the show was going to a commercial break.[2]

Murray had short brown hair and brown eyes. He wore a grey suit with a white shirt and yellow tie.[2]

Personality[]

As a talk show host, Murray had a relaxed composure, able to flit between serious questioning and light-hearted joking when necessary. He was also respectful, letting Neuman and Schoenheiss discuss their views, though did attempt to lighten the mood with humor for the audience on occasion. Murray became visibly disturbed after listening to Neuman's forecast and considering the plausibility of the latter's statements.[2]
