Biography

Background

Little is known about Rachel’s early life, except that she survived the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak and eventually settled in the community of survivors in Jackson, Wyoming, alongside her sister. At some point, she entered a relationship with an unnamed man, and the couple had a son, who was a toddler by 2029.

Events of HBO's The Last of Us

Season 2

On January 1, 2029, Rachel lost her sister during the infected horde's attack on Jackson. By April, she elected to participate in the public debate Ellie initiated to send a group of patrolmen to Seattle to track down and kill Joel Miller's murderers. Although she expressed sympathy for Ellie and referenced the loss of her own sister, Rachel opposed the proposal. She argued that Jackson remained heavily damaged from the recent attack and should focus on rebuilding rather than risk sending patrolmen on a long and dangerous mission, especially given the likelihood of casualties along the way.
