The Seattle synagogue is a minor location in The Last of Us Part II. It is a deserted synagogue visited by Ellie and Dina while traveling on their journey through downtown Seattle.[1]

History[]

Early outbreak[]

This unnamed synagogue was constructed in downtown Seattle, Washington along 5th Avenue and at the corner of Marion and Columbia Street some time before 2013. Following the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak, Zivah Saunders, the synagogue's resident rabbi, provided counseling to Lieutenant Carmelo Torres, the FEDRA commander of the Seattle quarantine zone. As FEDRA was losing their war with the Washington Liberation Front, Torres evacuated Rabbi Saunders and the other members of the synagogue out of the city. Saunders left a final letter for Lieutenant Torres thanking him and leaving some last words of advice.[2]

Around the same time, FEDRA converted the synagogue into a ration and fuel distribution center.[1]

Events of The Last of Us Part II[]

Ellie and Dina searched the synagogue for fuel for a generator after entering Seattle on their revenge quest against Abby Anderson. While there, Dina talked about her sister and their past with Judaism. If Ellie had already checked the courthouse for fuel, she will collect some from the tanker here. If she has not, the tanker will be empty and she will have to go collect some from the courthouse.[1]

Trivia[]

  • The synagogue is based on the real life Daniels Recital Hall, now known as The Sanctuary, a preserved church sanctuary located in Seattle at 811 5th Avenue.[3]
