The silencer is an attachable item that can be equipped to the 9mm pistol to silence the gun in The Last of Us Part II. It can be made from crafting together a rag and a canister. It belongs to the pistols group.[1]
Silencers can be removed and reattached so they are not wasted in an open gunfight. On default, when playing as Ellie, silencers will break after 3 shots but can be upgraded to 5 shots at the cost of 40 pills. When playing as Abby Anderson, players have access to crafting silencers by default and can upgrade them to the same durability level in her Firearms skill tree. It's worth nothing that on Survivor difficulty and above, silencers will have one less durability when crafted (2 shots by default and 4 shots when upgraded).
