Silver Lake is a major location in HBO's The Last of Us. It was a resort town in Colorado prior to the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak and home of the cannibals, led by David.
History[]
Background[]
Before the apocalypse, the resort was used as a vacation destination for residents, especially in the spring and summer months. It was never occupied during the winter months given the harsh blizzards that tended to occur during that time of year. However, its forest and woodland areas tended to have wild animals roaming within them, such as deer and rabbits. Further, two miles of woodlands separated the resort from the nearest town.
After the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak, the area fell into abandonment. However, David led his group of followers to the area sometime between 2017 and 2023 and settled there. They converted the town's restaurant, Todd's Steakhouse, into a gathering site for the group, with it functioning as a de facto church. They would pray here as well as eat together. The town also had a boathouse, which David had secretly turned into a butcher shop to house dead bodies, which were prepared to consumption unbeknownst to many in the town, except a select few such as James.[1]
