Of course, the key error they made was assuming that the difference was in Ellie's infection and not in Ellie herself. They would have been better off trying to sample and replicate Ellie's neurochemistry and seeing if 'control' spores reacted in the same way as the stuff in Ellie's system. Hadn't Marlene told them about Riley...? Or did she even know that wrinkle?

Previous patients[]
The "Significance" section treats previous patients as if they were all immune like Ellie, but from what we know they could have just been regular cases restrained so that the scientists could study Cordyceps, or maybe a few cases where the disease took longer to take over. I agree. The assertions in the "Significance" section rely heavily on assumptions and have no supporting evidence. I've reverted it to an earlier version without the offending parts, though an anonymous user has already reverted it once, citing "No it doesn't moron". Sawyer1217 (talk) 19:30, March 27, 2016 (UTC)
