Okay here's what I don't get about TLOU is why the Hunters for example have only these old timely wooden furniture firearms a.k.a. Fudd guns like the rifle and shotgun and not the tactical stuff like the AR-15, ACR Bushmaster, ksg shotgun and other firearms.
I mean The Last of Us is set in the U.S. where tons of these tactical firearms exist (and are/were legal!) and these are just the semi-automatic ones! Why would the Hunters be terrorizing tourists with just old style guns?
And since I'm just talking about semi-automatic guns Naughty Dog wouldn't have to worry about the player getting too powerful too early with the weapons since they only fire one bullet per trigger pull.
Gotta remember, this is set in a similar universive so "things" will be different. My only logical reason why the hunters use these "Fudd guns" is because the ArmaLite platform is very complex. These hunters have been living in quarantine zones (with limited rights) such as Hartford and Pittsburgh and they don't know how to take care of such weapons.

I agree but I guess they went with the fudd guns for balancing reasons.
They had the semi-auto rifle in multiplayer for example so I don't see why they couldn't have had it in single player. I mean a Ruger Mini 14 would've made a nice touch as a tactical gun. Semi-automatic only but modern and tactical.
Come on Naughty Dog, you don't need to limit us to Fudd Guns most of the time. We could've had the assault rifles while escaping the Quarantine Zone at least for a short while.
