Timothy is a minor character in the first season of HBO's The Last of Us. He was a member of a group of cannibalistic survivors led by David.[1]
Biography[]
Background[]
Timothy was a survivor of the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak. At some point he encountered David and joined his group of survivors. He believed in David's faith that he could lead them to safety by following a Christian-inspired form of religion. They settled in numerous places over the years, but were repeatedly attacked by raiders, leading them to eventually settle in the isolated resort town of Silver Lake in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado sometime before the summer of 2023.
By the winter of that year, Timothy, Josiah, Marco and Alec ventured to the University of Eastern Colorado on David's orders to find supplies. However, Alec was killed by a "crazy man", Joel, traveling with a "little girl", Ellie. Timothy and the others brought his body back to Silver Lake and desired vengeance on the two strangers for what they had done.[1]
Events of HBO's The Last of Us[]
Timothy was present in Todd's Steakhouse in Silver Lake, listening to David's sermon as the group mourned Alec's death. He looked on as David comforted Alec's wife, Joyce and daughter, Hannah. Later that day, Timothy ate in the restaurant with the group, listening as David announced that he and James had encountered Ellie, and would follow her tracks to find Joel.
The next day, Timothy joined James, Marco, and Josiah in a hunt with David to locate Ellie. However, during the search gunshots suddenly rang out. The group turned to see Ellie approaching from behind, firing and verbally taunting them before galloping away. Eventually, James shot the horse dead and the group surrounded Ellie, who was near unconscious after taking a bad fall from the horse. Timothy stood by as James contemplated killing her, only for David to approach and fire his rifle into the air, deterring James from acting on those thoughts. Seeing Timothy and the others' anger, David ordered them to search the remaining houses and "deliver" their vengeance upon Joel.
Timothy investigated several houses, but was surprised by Joel, knocked unconscious with the butt of the other man's rifle. Sometime later, when Timothy had regained consciousness, he found Joel had tied him to a chair. The man proceeded to torture him for information, beating him repeatedly in front of a captured Marco, who was also restrained against a nearby piano. Timothy pleaded with Joel, claiming he did not know anything about Ellie. Enraged, Joel stabbed him just above the knee and promised to pop the kneecap off if he did not talk. Giving in, Timothy revealed Ellie had been taken to Silver Lake. Joel yanked the knife from Timothy's leg and stuck the hilt in his mouth, ordering he use it to dab on the map where Silver Lake was located. Once done, Timothy wept and swore that he was not lying. Apathetic, Joel stabbed Timothy in the chest with the knife, killing him.[1]
Appearance[]
Timothy was a younger man with a thick brown beard and long shaggy brown hair.[1]
Personality[]
Timothy was a quiet man, meekishly following David's ways of running the community. He did not speak out during his sermons, passively looking on even when David abused Hannah in front of the group. Though he wanted Joel dead, he was obedient to David, not verbally challenging his desire to spare Ellie.
Timothy was also frightened by Joel, confessing key information about his group when facing torture from him.[1]
