Todd's Steakhouse is a location in HBO's The Last of Us. It is situated in Silver Lake, serving a key meeting point for David and his group during their time there.[1]
History[]
Background[]
Todd's Steakhouse once served as a restaurant for the residents of Silver Lake, especially during the holiday season in the mountains of Colorado. However, after the outbreak of the Cordyceps brain infection and the subsequent societal collapse, the area fell into abandonment. Eventually, by the winter of 2023, David and his group of survivors made their way to the town and sought shelter there. A religious group, they regularly met there to pray and listen to David's sermons. They also used the restaurant's kitchen to cook their food and ate in the dining area together. They also designed a banner inscribed with the words "When We Are in Need, He Shall Provide" and hung it up in the windows.[1]
Events of HBO's The Last of Us[]
After Alec's death at the hands of a supposed "crazy man", David led a funeral for him and comforted his daughter, Hannah. That night, some in the group prepared food in the kitchen area. David and James returned with a large deer for the group to butcher and eat, and announced an encounter with a girl that he believed was connected with the man who had killed Alec. Hannah shouted out that they should kill them; David moved over and struck her to the ground as punishment for her words before saying a prayer and allowing everyone to start eating.
The next day, David and James brought back the girl from the woods, Ellie, and locked her in a cage in the back of the restaurant. It was here that David tried to groom her only to give up when Ellie resisted. Angered, he brought in James and the pair attempted to butcher her for food but Ellie resisted, killed James and then entered a standoff with David in the dining area. In their struggle, Todd's Steakhouse was set ablaze and Ellie hacked David to death with a machete. She then stumbled from the restaurant, leaving Todd's Steakhouse to burn.[1]
