Biography[]
Yolanda was a FEDRA soldier assigned to the Seattle quarantine zone sometime after the outbreak of the Cordyceps brain infection. She lived in Hillcrest and regularly patrolled the area.[2] She formed a partnership with the town's leader, Boris Legasov, who ensured the community worked well with FEDRA.[3] Her dog, Alfie, was well liked by Boris and his daughter Sofia Legasov.[2]
After the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) overthrew FEDRA and the military's control over the city, Yolanda hid in Hillcrest, posing as a civilian. However, the WLF broke into FEDRA's headquarters and learned the names of all enlisted soldiers. Knowing she would be caught, Yolanda wrote a message to Boris revealing her intent to leave the city for her own safety, suggesting she may return under a new identity at some point. She also entrusted her dog, Alfie, in Boris' care.[2]
However, Boris was unable to care for Alfie after the WLF killed Sofia for protesting against their rule in Hillcrest.[3] Furious and vengeful, Boris launched a short guerilla war against the WLF, killing several of their soldiers. Eventually, Boris left a note for Yolanda shortly before his death, writing of his frustration at his fellow townsmen for not supporting his attacks on the WLF and hoping Yolanda found a better place to live.[4]
